A Strong Economy

Northeast Arkansas’ strong economy and diverse industry makes the area a great place to find a long lasting and viable career. The area’s large agriculture industry draws in many companies that provide jobs in the area such as Riceland, Post, Nice-Pak, any many more. Jonesboro, the area’s largest metro area, features a large healthcare sector, with two major hospitals providing services for patients and many job opportunities, with St. Bernard’s hospital being rated the best place to work in the region. 

The region’s low cost of living is one of the primary reasons many people consider moving here. Overall costs of living such as utilities, housing, food cost, and gas prices are much lower than in other metro regions in the state. Home costs in particular are much lower than the state and national average, making Jonesboro and the surrounding areas a great place to move!   

Northeast Arkansas is a transportation hub for both business and leisure, featuring many major highway connections to Little Rock, Memphis, St. Louis, and the Ozarks. In Jonesboro, many popular music stars perform at the city’s First National Bank Arena. Northeast Arkansas also has many historic sites such as the Hemingway Museum in Piggott, the historic courthouse in Powhatan, and the Southern Tenant Farmers Museum in Tyronza. Arkansas State University, the region’s main university, contains both a history and art museum featuring local artifacts and artwork. 


The area has many opportunities for quality education of all ages. Many area schools offer an excellent K-12 education, with some districts consistently scoring in the top 5% of districts in the state. Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, is one of the larger universities in the state, provides many degree programs, such as nursing, agriculture, and education, as well as caters highly to off campus students with many classes offered online or on one of many of their satellite campuses. The area also has many vocational schools and community colleges such as Black River Tech, ASUN, and Arkansas Northeast College. These grant opportunities to residents who wish to pursue a trade or want to work in a technical field. 

The region’s largest metro area, Jonesboro, has a large healthcare industry, with two major hospitals that serve the region’s healthcare needs, St Bernards, and NEA Baptist. Both hospitals offer quality care for all ages and ailments, with satellite offices and specialists who can cater to specific medical needs for the local population.
